Doctors’ strike in Balochistan enters 11th day

QUETTA: The doctors in Balochistan continued their strike in government and private hospitals of Quetta for the 11th consecutive day on Saturday, who are protesting against kidnapping of a senior doctor.


The strike was called by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Balochistan chapter and other organizations against the kidnapping of a fellow senior doctor of Bolan Medical Complex (BMC), Ghulam Rasool.

Unknown armed men had abducted psychiatrist Dr Ghulam Rasool of BMC hospital from Brewery Road on Wednesday August 1, two days after a kidnapped senior surgeon of the same college Dr Din Mohammad Bangulzai had been released.

Dr Rasool was on his way home after performing his duty at BMC when armed men intercepted and kidnapped him.

The paramedical staff along with doctors boycotting their duties, while patients, especially from far-flung areas are facing severe difficulties after the doctors stopped performing their duties in out patient departments (OPDs).

 However, doctors and paramedics were present at casualty and emergency wards to attend to patients.
