Pak-India cricket ties to resume in December: reports . |
|
KARACHI: Pakistan will tour India in December to play a three-match ODI series, the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) said according to reports in the Indian media. According to Indian media, the Indian government gave the green signal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The BCCI would announce match dates later on. Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf while talking to media welcomed BCCI’s decision to resume cricket between the two countries Zaka said the upcoming series between the two countries would break the ice, adding full security provision by provincial government in Pakistan would ensue in immediate restoration of international cricket in Pakistan. Pakistan and India played each other in the 2012 Asia Cup but last played a series five years ago in 2007. The proposed series will take place after approval from the Indian government has been received. Ties between Pakistan and India were strained after the 2008 Mumbai attacks and international cricket has been suspended in Pakistan since the 2009 attack on the Sri Lanka cricket team in Lahore. However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf said that no official confirmation had been sent by the BCCI but it was good news. He added that talks had been held on his visit to India about resuming bilateral series. “If this is true, I think it is a good omen. The talks between us have always been on the line that cricketing ties should be resumed between India and Pakistan. India and Pakistan are great cricketing nations and they should resume playing with each other,” he said while talking to a private news channel. -- Agencies
