Women not barred from visiting Bazaars: DPO Lakki
LAKKI MARWAT: District Police Officer (DPO) Lakki Marwat, Umer Riaz Sunday rebuffed rumors suggesting a ban imposed by the local council barring women from entering the marketplaces in Tehsil Saraey Norang.
While talking to media, DPO Umer said that locals including the traders, and community elders, convened a meeting to discuss the law and order situation in the area. The District Superintendent Police (DSP) Saraey Norang, Sanaullah also participated in the meeting. DPO Umer said that during the meeting it was suggested that a ban be imposed on women entering the Bazaars. The DSP, however, turned down the proposal.
‘Later on, rumor-mongers spread the unfounded news that DSP was in favor of a ban barring women from entering the marketplace’, Umer added.
