KAHUTA: At least six passengers were killed and several others injured when a passenger bus fell into a gorge near Kahuta on Tuesday. 

According to reports, police with help from locals initiated search and rescue. The incident unfolded when a passenger bus plunged into a gorge killing six people by the impact of the fall. Most of the injured were said to be in a critical condition. 

In the initial hours of the rescue, area locals were mobilized by airing help calls through the public addressing system installed in mosques. 

It is feared that the number of dead could rise. 

Meanwhile, in a similar incident, at least eight people were killed when a passenger van fell into the ice-cold deep PreShang River. According to police sources, the accident happened due to overloading and as the driver lost control of the van it fell into the river killing eight and wounding 20 passengers. 

The dead and the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Astor.
