Arsalan's review plea: SC issues notices to AG, Riaz
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday issued notices to attorney general, Malik Riaz and others over review petition of Arsalan Iftikhar, son of chief justice Iftikhaar Mohammad Chaudhry.
A two-member bench of the supreme court comprising Justice Jawad S Khwaja and Justice Khilji Arif heard the plea of Arsalan Iftikhar against NAB’s investigation into financial scam against him.
The counsel for Arsalan Iftikhar, Sardar Ishaq requested the court to stop the NAB from investigation into his client case as the NAB is not the government’s machinery but an independent institution. He said that the attorney general has written a letter to the NAB for forming joint investigation team, which is against the court’s decision.
Justice Arif said that the court jurisdiction in review cases is very limited. The court asked the deputy attorney general about letter to the NAB, who expressed his ignorance about the letter.
The court sought detailed replies from attorney general, Malik Riaz and others and adjourned the hearing till July 24th.
