PCNS may finalize missing persons bill on July 24

ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) could not prepare the final draft of the bill on missing persons/forced disappearances, it was learnt on Wednesday. A meeting of the PCNS chaired by Senator Raza Rabbani was convened here. In pursuance of the meeting agenda, recommendations on missing persons were to be given a final touch. However, the PCNS members due to their engagements could not produce the final draft of a bill pertaining to forced disappearances. The committee demanded details on Afghan affairs by the foreign office. Talking to newsmen after the committee meeting, Chairman PCNS, Senator Raza Rabbani that focus of the members was divided due to other engagements. He said that during the next PCNS session on July 24, recommendations over missing persons would be drafted on a priority basis. The committee during its meeting asked the foreign office to brief them about Afghan and NATO supply route affairs. The committee would also evaluate the progress over the implementation of Aghaz-e-Hudood-e- Balochistan, he added.
