Rehman Malik reelected to Senate

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Interior and Former Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik was re-elected to the Senate unopposed, a seat which he resigned on July 10.

A notification regarding Rehman Malik’s appointment to Senate was issued on Monday. Earlier on Friday, Malik had submitted his nomination papers for his reelection to Senate. Malik was the only candidate to submit candidacy papers and it was thinkable that he would remain unchallenged and emerge successful.

Rehman Malik submitted his nomination papers on Sindh’s vacant Senate seats to be scrutinized for Technocrats and Scholars benches. The Provincial Election Commissioner, Sonu Khan Baloch okayed Malik’s nomination paper. After the notification regarding Malik’s reelection to Senate was issued, Molvi Iqbal Haider Advocate submitted his objection over Malik’s nomination with the provincial election commissioner.

Talking to media on the occasion, Malik thanked MQM Chief, Altaf Husain and Arbab Ghulam Rahem for their cooperation.

Malik reassured that the coming government would belong to the same ruling elite as it was now.
