ISLAMABAD: Secretary for Water and Power, Zafar Mahmood Thursday appraised a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting that electricity distribution companies (Discos) were overbilling consumers despite prolonged load shedding only to compensate for their losses.

The secretary further informed the meeting that 20 sub-divisional officers (SDOs) were suspended for overbilling in Lahore.

Replying to the statement PAC member Noor Alam commented that most areas of the country were without electricity for 18 to 20 hours during day and night; despite this they were being unduly charged.
