ATC reserves judgment in Sufi Muhammad case

PESHAWAR: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) at Central jail Peshawar reserved its judgment after hearing arguments over the non-maintainability of cases piled against the defunct Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM) Chief Sufi Muhammad here on Friday.

During the hearing, Adil Majeed Counsel for Sufi Muhammad contested that cases registered against Sufi dated back to 1995 and 1994 while he was being tried under the 1997 Anti-Terrorism Act. Sufi’s litigator went on to contest that following the agreements between Sufi Muhammad, the provincial government and the home department all cases were repealed which could not be referred to anymore.

Government’s attorney presented his arguments against Sufi’s litigator.

The court reserved its judgment in the case.
