Ramazan moon sighted: Saturday to mark first fast

KARACHI: The moon of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak 1433 A.H was sighted marking the initiation of the holy month of Ramazan from tomorrow Saturday (July 21). 

A meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held here today for sighting the crescent of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak 1433 A.H, with Chairman Mufti Munibur Rehman in the chair.

Moreover, the meeting of zonal committees was also held in their respective areas.

Masjid Qasim Ali Khan in Peshawar also announced to observe the first fast of the holy month on Saturday. 

Following the announcement, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf sent messages of felicitations on the arrival of Ramazan.

Preparations for Taraveeh prayers also got underway at leading mosques across the country as it prepared for its first fast.

The holy month had already commenced in most Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
