Mobile service suspended in Red zone Karachi, Lahore city

KARACHI: Following the directives from the Minister of Interior, mobile phone service was suspended in the Red zone of the metropolis, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said Sunday.

According to details, Minister for Interior while talking to media earlier today said that due to a heightened threat perception of a possible terrorist activity in Karachi, Lahore and Multan, cellular service in these cities would remain suspended during dawn and dusk on the first day of Eid. In Karachi’s Red Zone, Mobile phone service would remain suspended from 8pm tonight to 2pm on Monday. Reports also came in about disruption in mobile signals at Gawadar, Peshawar, and parts of Islamabad.

However, according to PTA, cellular services were stopped in Karachi’s Red Zone and the whole city of Lahore.

In Quetta, two cellular companies got offline.

An umpteen number of customers were affected by the service outage and residents reported great difficulty in going about their routine chores.
