Pillion riding, arms display banned in Sindh

KARACHI: The Sindh Government Tuesday placed a ban on pillion riding in the metropolis and Hyderabad besides carrying and display of firearms in Sindh. 

According to details, the order comes as part of security measures for the death anniversary of Hazrat Ali on 21st Ramadan (Aug 10).

As per the notification released by home department Sindh, the pillion riding ban has been enforced in Karachi from 19th Ramadan (August 8) to 22nd Ramadan (August 11) and in Hyderabad, from 20th Ramadan (August 10) to 22nd Ramadan (August 11). The ban was imposed under Section 144.

However, women, the elderly, children and journalists would be exempted from the ban.

The Sindh Interior Ministry also enforced a ban on carrying and displaying of firearms, as well as a ban on the public assemblage of more than five people.
