QUETTA: Doctors serving in private and public hospitals observed a strike owing to the failure of authorities in recovering the kidnapped Senior Surgeon Dr Din Muhammad here on Monday.

According to details, Dr Din Muhammad was abducted by unknown men eight days ago from Mastung area of Balochistan. Doctors have boycotted the provision of services in public and private hospitals with the exception of emergency services. Patients arriving at the hospital from far-off areas are faced with difficulties due to the strike.

The abduction of Dr Din Muhammad was discussed during a core committee meeting convened here with Dr Sultan Tareen in the chair at Bolan Medical College and Hospital. The meeting was appraised that the concerned government department was not serious in bringing the abductors of Dr Din to book. It was decided during the meeting that the strike would be stepped up, if the senior surgeon was not recovered on immediate basis.
