PMA-B’stan to lodge protest over missing doctor on Sunday

QUETTA: Doctors and paramedical staff in all public and private hospitals entered the third day of their strike to protest the abduction of their colleague Dr Ghulam Rasul here on Friday. 

According to details, the renowned psychologist, Dr Ghulam Rasul was abducted three days ago while travelling to work. The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) – Balochistan chapter during its body meeting had given the call for protest until the recovery of Dr Ghulam. 

Earlier, doctors withdrew services from OPD / indoor, but today doctors have suspended all services including emergency services. 

Compounding effect

Paramedical staff in recognition of the doctor’s protest joined in which made matters worse for the already admitted patients receiving daily medicine. 

Recovery efforts 

In a bid to recover Dr Rasul, the Balochistan government has constituted committees comprising administration, police and levy personnel. However, as of yet, no progress was made in tracing out the quarry. 

Unknown men kidnapped Dr Rasul last Wednesday from Brori road while he was on his way to his clinic located on Zarghun road. 

Latest Development 

During a general body meeting of the Pakistan Medical Association it was decided in the large interest of the public to restore the emergency services by 3pm today (Friday).

‘Services in the OPD would remain suspended until the recovery of Dr Ghulam’, the general body meeting decided. 

The PMA also gave the call to stage a protest demonstration in Quetta on Sunday (August 5).
