Balochistan doctors strike services for 10th consecutive day

QUETTA: Doctors and paramedical staff of government and private hospitals in Quetta entered on Friday entered tenth day of their strike to protest the abduction of Dr. Ghulam Rasool.

According to details, the strike was called by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Balochistan chapter and other organizations against the kidnapping of a senior fellow member of Bolan Medical Complex (BMC), psychiatrist Dr Ghulam Rasool.

Unknown armed men had abducted psychiatrist Dr Ghulam Rasool of BMC hospital from Brewery Road on Wednesday August 1 while he was on his way to his home.

Patients, especially from far-off areas are facing severe difficulties due to the non-availability of doctors.

The outpatient departments (OPDs) have taken on a deserted look.

However, doctors and paramedics were present at casualty and emergency wards to attend to patients

The Balochistan government has formed a committee for the recovery of Dr Ghulam Rasool, however, it has not produced any meaningful results.

The doctors, however, are determined to continue their strike until the return of Dr. Ghulam Rasool.
